If you’re running a business and you’re interested in creating video ads that will actually grow your business then you need to be aware of the 3 stages of video production for creating great YouTube Ads.

Did you know that 68% of YouTube users watched YouTube to help make a purchase decision.

Why do I share these two stats with you?

If you aren’t currently creating videos to serve your market, you’re losing out on connecting with your potential customers or clients.

There’s a lot that’s involved in producing great videos. I wanted to break down the video production process to give you some clarity and tips to make it helpful and enjoyable experience for you.

I’ve had the experience of being a part of hundreds of video production shoots over the last 20 years.

I’ve been in front of the camera, behind the camera. I’ve experienced shooting videos by myself and I’ve also been a part of production crews with over 30 people.

Lately, I haven’t even been touching the camera.

There’s all types of videos. To keep things simple and relevant, this production process will be focused on talking head video.

Here are the 3 critical steps of video production.

Pre-Production: This is everything that happens before you shoot your video. Nail this step, everything goes smoother.

  • Know your audience: (Who & Why)

  • Know your message: (Why your solution? Why Now? – Feel, Know Do.

  • People, Promise, Pain, Plan, Propose (5P’s)

  • Write your scripts or outlines

  • Plan logistics (Who, Where, When)

Production: This is everything that happens during the shoot

  • Production Team or You?

  • Quality Equipment: Camera, Audio, Lights

  • Frame it

  • Shoot it

Post Production: Everything that happens after the video shoot

  • Edit it

  • Colorize

  • Add Titles / Graphics

  • Add music

Conclusion:

There is a misconception that making videos is a lot of work. It can be if you shoot them one by one. In order to reduce the amount of work, time and energy, I recommend you batch shoot your vidoes. Choose one day a month where you shoot 5-10 videos in a day and just knock them out.
